Dr. Cole is an accomplished scientist, educator, and senior university administrator, whose career includes leadership and faculty roles at some of the USA’s top institutions:

  • Vice Provost and Dean Emerita, University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC)
  • Former Associate Provost and Dean of Academic Services, University of Tampa
  • Former Associate Dean of Undergraduate Studies, University of South Florida (USF)
  • Former Faculty Member, University of Maryland School of Medicine, University of South Florida, and University of Tampa
  • Postdoctoral Research Fellow, National Cancer Institute (NCI), National Institutes of Health (NIH)

While Dr. Cole held faculty appointments at all these institutions, she actively taught courses at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and the University of South Florida, combining her scientific expertise with a commitment to student learning.

She earned her Ph.D. in Pathology from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed postdoctoral training at the National Cancer Institute, NIH. Her research has focused on cell cycle regulation and cellular differentiation in the malignant transformation of human lung and liver cells.

During her 12 years as Vice Provost and Dean, Dr. Cole oversaw multiple academic departments, guided curricular innovation, advanced high-impact educational practices, and developed strategic initiatives to prepare students for professional success. She also has extensive expertise in regional and programmatic accreditation, internship-to-credit conversions, transfer credit evaluation, and course articulation agreements.
